Evaluation

This is my final magazine cover. I think the fonts chosen work really well together and they are readable. However i don't think my colour scheme is very successful. Its too dark and give the magazine a grunge vibe. The college colours of blue white and green would have been much better. The dark background is very overpowering however it contrasts well with the white text. I think the decision not to add main cells on this page was a good one. The front cover looks minimalistic and very college like. The use of a strapline helps add to this look. I love the layout of my contents page. The jagged layers give my magazine a more modern feel. I think the colour scheme works a lot better on this page.

Imagery

I don't like this image. It looks very dark and his facial expression doesn't reflect the tone of my magazine. Not only that but the person in the picture is looking down adding to the depressing tone of the picture. Eye contact with the camera would help make the interview feel more personal and help it seem more inviting. The body language of the picture is also very closed off. This makes the character look timid and makes the interview seem like it will be very boring and uninteresting.








I like this image. His facial expression and body language make him seem fun and relaxed. This is the type of vibe i want my magazine to give off. This also makes him more appealing to my target audience.

Flat Plans

I plan to make my college magazine appeal more to the students. I will give my magazine cover an typical layout. I will also use and American college style font face which will give the magazine a college feel, without making it feel to professional. The images I will use won’t have too overpowering colours, this is because bright colours can distract the reader from the main focus of the cover which will be the cover story. The images I will have on the cover is the Sussex Downs logo, this is so people will associate the magazine with the college, a picture of a student, this image will go with my main flash and I will have a coloured background image that my whole cover will be placed on top of. The reason I have chosen to use a background colour is because it will help make the cover look interesting. I will include a strap line on my cover too. I will keep writing minimalistic and try to only use key words. I will also give my contents page an unusual layout. This will work well with my front cover and run as a theme throughout the whole magazine.

Introduction

In this task we have been asked to redesign the front cover of our college magazine. The target audience for the magazine will be the students that go to the college.
